Ben Chavez

Ben Chavez (1901 - 1962)

Ben was a professional vaudeville and after-dinner club entertainer throughout the 1920's and 1930's (18 years total). He retired after tragic death of his daughter, Ruth Ann. After a brief hiatus, he opened the Chavez College of Magic (along with wife Marian Chavez) in 1941, a school dedicated to the study of sleight-of-hand magic, stage manipulation, and showmanship. Ben spent the next 21 years of his life (until his death in 1962) starting many careers.

Marian Chavez

Marian Chavez (1909 - 1978)

Marian was a professional vaudeville and after-dinner club under the stage name Delorys through the 1930's. She retired after tragic death of her daughter, Ruth Ann. After a brief hiatus, she opened the Chavez College of Magic (along with husband Ben Chavez) in 1941, a school dedicated to the study of sleight-of-hand magic, stage manipulation, and showmanship. She spent the next 37 years of her life (until her death in 1978) starting many careers.

Neil Foster

Neil Foster (1921 - 1988)

Professional entertainer starting in the late 1930's. Graduate of the Chavez College of Magic and spent 5 years in the 1940's and 1950's as an instructor. His career has taken him from entertainment at the Coronation Celebration for Queen Elizabeth II, in England, to school assembly programs throughout the United States and everywhere in between. Before the death of Marian Chavez, it was arranged in 1977, he was to take over ownership and become primary instructor of the Chavez College of Magic. He spent the next 11 years of his life (until his death in 1988) starting many careers.

Larry Wirtz

Larry Wirtz (1966 - present)

Larry Wirtz has been working as a full time entertainer and professional speaker for the past thirty years. He is a graduate of the Chavez College of Manual Dexterity and Prestidigitation. Wirtz received the coveted Neil Foster Golden Seal of Excellence and was invited into the school's graduate program. Upon graduation, he was offered a position as an instructor. Currently, while maintaining a full performance calendar, Larry can still be found teaching "sleight of hand magic" at the college.
